"Gone Away" is again a mix between Rock, Funk and Goth. I've been told it sounds a little like Peter Gabriel.

Story behind the song
"Gone Away" started with a kick-ass acoustic riff I had created nearly 20 years ago, but couldn't seem to find the right music for it. I awoke one morning determined to revive the riff.
My earlier approach had initially involved a complex series of chord progressions, but in a moment of inspiration I realized that the riff was powerful enough to be the core of the song. It was very busy, so I decided to keep the bassline simple.
I wanted the drums to be very dominant, and played a bodhran and several other tropical drums over it.
This led to a quasi-tropical, funky groove that reminded me of Peter Gabriel. The lyrics then came to me quite quickly, as I had been going through a deep depression and was working with the doctor to overcome it.
I as hoping the depression would go away, which led me to the words "Gone Away". I then personified Depression to be a female. I remembered the Native American myth of the Spider Woman, and wrote around that concept.
Interestingly, the first time I played this for my sister, she immediately said that the song somehow reminded her of the Spider Woman myth. Since I had made NO mention of that to her nor in the lyrics, I was struck by how I had somehow communicated that concept through the music alone.
The end result, in my opinion, is one of my most unique compositions.
Lyrics
Gone Away Gone Away Oh
Gone Away Gone Away Oh
She came from the Night
Carried away the precious light 2x
And she tore the life from me with her beak
And she ripped spirit from me left me weak
With claws she tore into my heart
And joyfully ripped my soul apart
May rain wash away my tears
And blood flow and wash away my fears
May the pitch of despair turn to gray
And my wounded heart learn to celebrate
When she's gone away (back to Emin groove)
She came from the Night
Carried away the precious light 2x
And she tore the life from me with her beak
And she ripped spirit from me left me weak
With claws she tore into my heart
And joyfully ripped my soul apart
The shame I've carried across the years
A tide that floods when she nears
May the night sky tear and drift away
With a lifetime of pain that I'll relegate
When she's gone away
