Hello. Welcome to the world of KAJSA OHMAN.
Story behind the song
Once, my true love did build me a house in the treetops, where we could look down on the nesting birds--and we were nesting birds, ourselves.
It is not much of a stretch to think that love in the treetops is Eden.
Lyrics
Beneath this old hat brim I see
I see birds in the trees without number
& every bird I see can make me weak in the knees
His soft hands to remember.
Once we had this crazy thing
--You can talk about your love in the treetops!--
And when we'd get through singing like 2 birds on the wing
We'd sit in the nest and make sweet talk.
He'd toss me up--I'd throw him down.
You could tell by the way he'd pursue me
That he had more riches than a king with his crown
For he had the world to give to me.
Maybe we'll forget in time
But the seeds in the ground will remember
The shakin' they'd feel when we'd get the desire
To shatter the earth with our splendor.
Beneath this old hat brim I see
I see bees buzzing 'round in the clover
And every bee I see has got a message for me:
How did you lose your lover?
My hair I'll comb, and comb again,
And these rings on my fingers all shining
As up into the branches I go climbing again
That this time I might find him.
And he'll come through this garden door
And the birds on the wall, they'll go crazy!
His coat in the wind and the boots that he wore,
Crying, 'Only your loving can save me.'
Sometimes by sky, sometimes by sea--
When he comes, he's too good to believe it.
You may tell me there's nothjing but the birds in the trees--
It's all in the way you perceive it.
